The Nikonos Project: The Baseline | Leighton DaCosta, Charleston Photographer.

Still working on it, these were some test shots from my Nikonos V. I've been having some issues with double exposure, so will do a roll strictly as a land camera and see what I come up with to share.

Nikonos V; 28mm; Kodak MAX 400, (assumed) 1/60s - aperture priority of f/8

I like the colors of the film so far, but need to push at getting context and focus. Definitely not as easy shooting underwater as digital.

The one thing I know about shooting with new equipment is to always do a test roll first, just so that you can have a baseline, or to learn things that you wouldn't see unless you were shooting. The worst time to find out something is wrong is when you're on a shoot for a paying client.

The Head Shot Intensified | Leighton DaCosta, Charleston Photographer

I have always been a staunch proponent for the professional head shot. In a digital online world, the quip, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression;" couldn't be more true. Whether it is Facebook, your website bio, or your linked in profile, your head shot, should be your best presentation. Your head shot should go beyond just good looks, but be a window into your personality.

I really enjoyed the interaction with Amy while capturing my head shot. It wasn't about all the technology and lighting, even though the tech and the lighting style was very effective and gave a look that we both liked. I loved how she was able to bring a side of me I sometimes rarely think I show, but yet, is so me!

If you are in the Charlotte, NC area and are in need of new head shots, I strongly recommend Amy of Ozzy Headshots. Not only is she a colleague, but she's my head shot photographer!
